{"id":1472,"date":"2023-11-18T08:29:32","date_gmt":"2023-11-18T07:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stefan-loser.de\/wordpress\/?page_id=1472"},"modified":"2025-07-17T22:09:24","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T20:09:24","slug":"flintlock","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/stefan-loser.de\/?page_id=1472","title":{"rendered":"Flintlock"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As part of a collaboration between <strong>Shapefarm<\/strong> and the talented team at <strong>A44<\/strong>, I contributed to the development and shipping of <strong>Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn<\/strong> \u2014 an action-RPG open-world adventure built in <strong>Unreal Engine 4<\/strong>, with gameplay reminiscent of <em>Dark Souls<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this project, I served as the <strong>Technical Art Lead<\/strong> for the New Zealand-based team, managing and supporting a group of 4 tech artists. My responsibilities included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Team leadership and mentorship<\/strong>, reviewing tasks and ensuring quality, consistency, and technical feasibility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Workflow and pipeline development<\/strong> to support efficient cross-discipline collaboration and asset integration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Performance optimization<\/strong> across multiple platforms, balancing visual fidelity with runtime constraints.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bug fixing and technical support<\/strong>, addressing engine, content, and platform-specific issues throughout development and polish phases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Flintlock is an action-RPG open-world adventure similar to Dark Souls made In Unreal Engine 4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn - Official Announcement Trailer\" width=\"819\" height=\"461\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3TAHtHwhl2M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I worked on the Souls-Like Flintlock together with A44.
